What you can do today

Change how text looks

The Aa button at the top of family pages and in every lesson makes text larger, spaces it out, adds a coloured overlay (cream, blue, green, yellow or rose) or switches to an easy-read font. Your choice is remembered on that device.

Hear it read aloud

Every step of a sitting has a Hear this button. Each word is highlighted as it is read, on browsers that support it. The phonics sounds are recorded clips.

Use a keyboard or a screen reader

Everything can be reached with a keyboard, focus is always visible, and buttons and pictures have text descriptions.

Less movement

If your device is set to reduce motion, KinLearn turns its animations off.

A calm pace

No timers or countdowns for children, a daily limit per child, and a start check that stops as soon as things get tricky.

How we check

Every change is checked automatically against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at level AA, at phone and desktop sizes, on every page a family uses. We aim to meet that level in full.

What is not done yet

A full test by disabled people using their own screen readers and switch devices has not been done yet, and automated checks cannot find every problem. The read-aloud voice for lesson text is your device's own, so it varies between devices. Some learning happens away from the screen and may need adapting; the parent guide for each lesson suggests other ways to respond, such as pointing, showing or drawing.
